The reunion with Dimas Escazú, the side Saprissa beat in the Clausura 2026 final, had everything. The visitors struck first through Sharon Lobo, but the Purples hit back before the break with goals from Daniela Cruz and Catalina Estrada.
Early in the second half, Carolina Venegas struck twice in barely two minutes and the game looked settled at 4-1, a scoreline that invited calm.
Dimas refused to accept it. Sharon Lobo completed her brace, Alyssa Kaye brought her side closer in the closing stages and Thelma Salguera completed the comeback a minute from time: three goals in the last fourteen minutes for a 4-4 that nobody in the stands saw coming.
The result costs Saprissa valuable points in the fight for the top places in the Apertura, a tournament in which only the top four advance to the semifinals.
